goodbye surgery, hello o&g

Yeap, today's the 1st day of our new posting in O&G! Its rather exciting to be in a new posting. Some statistics - on an average year, there are about 12000 patients presenting at this hospital (+/- 6000 for each obstetric & gynae ward) And on an average, there are about 50 births per day at the labour room, which has roughly about 10 beds. So its a pretty busy place to be in the day/night time with all the pregnant women, nervous husbands, nurses, doctors and not to mention us excited medical students swarming around the room.

Tonight was our 1st night oncall at the labour room. We witnessed 3 deliveries and i had the opportunity to assist in the suction of the baby's mouth & nose the moment he came out. The joy of the mother & father upon seeing their 1st born *sniffs* Looking forward to conducting my 1st delivery in the weeks to come :)

And speaking of family......

My Family
